It’s for businesses, individuals, community groups and organisations of all shapes and sizes who have a great story to tell and want to engage their audiences with news, views or entertainment.

You will leave the course with a well-formed plan to create a pilot of your own podcast, whether that is to showcase an area of professional expertise or to support personal interests. You will:

• know all you need to produce an original podcast

• have the knowledge and skills to create a podcast strategy

• be ready to use podcasts to reach new audiences.

The course focuses on building confidence in listening and speaking in English whilst researching the history, culture and heritage of the UK related to horticulture, garden design and rural life. A complementary programme of tours to places of historic and contemporary horticultural importance complement the classroom activities.

On this course you will learn some simple techniques to help you communicate with confidence.

This course invites you to unlock the secrets of storytelling in various genres, from the verses of poetry to the drama of playwriting.

Your journey is one of exploration, guidance, and camaraderie, as you discover the writer within and set sail on a literary odyssey.

This course is for students who wish to improve their English skills whilst having the opportunity to experience student life and culture in Nottingham. In class, you first discuss and practice various elements of collaborative speaking in English. You then discuss a topic together in groups. The topics will emphasise the culture of the UK and things to do in Nottingham. You will work in groups on a different project related to the culture, history and heritage of Nottingham and the UK. Each group will present a project at the end of the course as either a poster or oral presentation.

During the course you will:

• think about crises in terms of the pre-crisis, the crisis event, and the post-crisis from a global perspective

• put the theory into practice and prepare to manage the communications and PR around a crisis

• complete an exercise experiencing a ‘real’ crisis situation

• react to and responding to the crisis, to formulate a credible communications response

• look at how and whether a crisis can be turned into an opportunity.
